Hi Benjie.

Love your articles so much. I hope you know a guy who knows a guy who give massive discounts on the National Shared Mobility Summit (wink..wink..). I am based in the Philippines and started a micro mobility start-up called Tipaklong in June 2020 at the height of the now longest lock down in the world. We don't have a website site yet but you check us on FB and on YouTube (interview with Anton Diaz of Awesome Planet).

Hope we can touch base if what we're doing here in Manila is of interest to you.

Rgds,

Arnold Bufi

Hey Arnold, thanks!

Tipaklong would definitely interest to me. (Esp. if it's a reference to Al Mendoza's short story involving Quintin Balajadia.)

Reply by email to the newsletter (if you get it in your inbox) and I'll connect you to "my guy."

Hey Benjie. Thanks for the swift reply. Hahaha. Didn't know of the short story of Al Mendoza on Tipaklong (quickly looked at it on Google and looks interesting!). I had a different reason for choosing Tipaklong. It's green (normally), representing green mobility and can easily hop as opposed to another character that I'm familiar with and I hope you are too...Pong Pagong (Kuya Bodjie) represented by the crawling cars in one of the most traffic-choked cities in the world - Manila!

Looking forward to a future when Filipinos will hop rather than crawl in EDSA or Commonwealth Avenue...Everyday I see more bikers in Commonwealth Avenue, it gives me hope..

two thumbs up!

Especially with the amazing work of the MoveAsOne coalition, the Bike United Marshalls, and all the other civic organizations fighting for people-centered transportation system in Metro Manila.

I know! They are awesome. Reached out to MoveasOne and hopefully we can become a member. Are you based in Seattle? I will be in Southern California on August 3-21, and may be if the stars align can have a coffee with you in the City where Starbucks began? Just thinking aloud, though I know you are very busy...

Hi Benjie!

A current Vietnamese film in US theaters this weekend that fits your theme: Bố Già

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt13925862/

"The film follows the story of Sang, an old motorbike taxi driver from a low-class neighborhood in downtown Saigon, as he struggles to make ends meet for his family."

Evidently, it was a big hit here, but I missed it and now we are back in strict social distancing orders...so thanks for the great list of movies!

Hey Fred! - Thanks for a great lead.

I found a trailer with subtitles. Maybe they'll release the full film online - also with subtitles.
